A contemporary style single storey rear extension with mostly glass walls forming an open-plan kitchen area knocked-through to the existing property. The most interesting thing about this project was the engineering. The other photos show how a steel frame was installed that went under a fair proportion of the existing property, through to the new area, where a vertical post was installed; holding up not only the extension, but also A significant part of the house. This enabled very wide bi-folding doors to be installed to the side creating from inside and out a stunning sense of openness with the rear courtyard garden. On a sunny day with all the doors open it is hard to differentiate between indoors and out.
